Be wary! Fake anti-imperialist Walden Bello feeds deadly lies!
Who is violating whose rights, Mr. Bello?
Once again, Mr. Bello is painting himself as the
sacrificial victim in the hopes of hoodwinking people
into believing his own delusions of grandeur.
Now, Mr. Bello is making farfetched claims that
Filipino-Canadians in
Vancouver are stifling his freedom of speech because,
as peace and freedom-loving people, we have taken the
stand not to support a "coalition"
that would host a man who is spreading lies --not just
any lies, but, fabrications that are costing some of
the bravest and brightest Filipinos their lives.
It is a plain fact that Mr. Bello's Akbayan political
party is actively collaborating with the Philippine
Military and that Mr. Bello himself is lying about a
diagram of counterrevolutionary groups and individuals
that has made him paranoid. As he goes around the
world spreading lies and terrorist-baiting legal mass
organizations that are engaged in the courageous
struggle to free the Filipino people from foreign and
feudal
domination, the Philippine military and paramilitary
groups are hunting down and killing members and
supporters of this movement.
In the meantime, his Focus on the Global South
professes to be against globalization while it sits
comfortably continuing to receive heavy funding from
Ford Foundation and Rockefeller Brothers.
In the past two weeks alone, 6 people have been killed
including one priest, a lawyer and a 67-year old
secretary general of a peasant organization
all of whom were outspoken fighters for the Filipino
people's aspirations for national freedom and
democracy. Even Atty. Romy Capulong, NDFP
political consultant and United Nation Judge Ad Litem,
was not spared of an assassination attempt just last
week. This is state terrorism and fascism
that Mr. Bello knows but seems not to recognize.
As progressive Filipino-Canadians, we cannot sit
quietly and let Mr. Bello continue spreading lies that
give more reason for the Philippine military to
terrorize and kill those fighting for a just struggle.
Contrary to another one of Mr. Bello's lies that we
have cowardly hidden our faces and that, according to
him, we are a "minuscule
bunch of people purporting to be Filipinos", our
organizations have been engaged in comprehensive and
pain-staking community work for over two decades
across Canada. In fact, some of us had worked with
Bello during the period of the Marcos dictatorship.
The big difference is we have remained faithful to the
anti-imperialist and democratic aspirations of the
Filipino people
while Bello has decided to critically collaborate with
the neo-colonial
regime in the Philippines.
We invite him to visit our website
http://kalayaancentre.net to learn more about
our work.
In fact, a large part of our work is to educate the
Filipino community in Canada and the Canadian public
about the reality in the Philippines and that of our
community.
It is for this reason, our perseverance to put forward
the truth about the
Philippines, that we in Vancouver have withdrawn from
the Stopwar.ca coalition after individuals in its
coordinating committee undemocratically
usurped votes for themselves and imposed Mr. Bello on
the coalition.
Therefore, Mr. Bello, we ask: "Who is violating whose
rights?".
And please do not fret, we will be there at your forum
to provide to Canadians
and the Filipino community the real truth!
